Inspirational intrigue for those who like their sermons annotated with a little temptation of the flesh, a touch of miracle and lots of action. This re-introduces Reverend Raymond Sebastian (Code Name Sebastian, 1967) now down in Miami trying to comfort a moulting member of his flock. Only he has to deal with husband Joe who thinks Jane is a ""religious psycho"" and prods the Reverend to prove his God by accompanying him on a suicide mission--to rescue seven Cubans from Castro's Communism. Sebastian is beset by doubts and the National Intelligence Agency who Believe that one member of the alleged rescue party plans to jump ship for Havana and that one of the rescuees is actually an assassin. Alphonse is the unwieldy submarine they put their faith in and the old bucket does manage to survive depth charges, an attempted hold-up, not to mention a pregnant mother. Needless to say a number of converts emerge at the tale's end and Sebastian survives to carry on as a Cold War Christian soldier. . . . Would you believe?
