THE KING'S PROCESSION

Pipin, the stable boy, rode on his bag-of-bones donkey at the end of the king's procession. As the villagers jeered at him, Pipin felt uncomfortable in the presence of the king and his regal company. In the end, Pipin must choose between a proud white pony and his homely, but faithful donkey. Young children, who have long been fascinated by the pageantry of kings, queens, horses and processions, are certain to enjoy this brief story which is told with the directness and simplicity of a folk tale.
