FABLES FOR OUR TIME and Famous Poems Illustrated

Thurber's latest New Yorkiana, fables in modern dress and nimble nonsense. Many of the familiar Aesop fables are there with an old favorite fairy tale and a few of Thurber's own thrown in. In each case there is a modern variation of an old story, or ironic perversion of old truths, or neat punned morality lines. You know him -- you like him (or you don't like him). These aren't uniformly hilarious.
