Indeed he was! All summer long, Gus entertains the Scot family with friendly noises familiar to people who don't believe in ghosts. And when winter arrives and the house is empty, Gus invites a shivering mouse in to share it. Afraid that his companion will be bored, Gus whips up cheese soups, soufflees, biscuits and other tempting delights in order to insure companionship. Little does he know that Mouse will rule the , come summer. With the Scots back in their home, the little intruder chews into boxes, makes nasty noises and frightens Mrs. Scot. Finally Gus revolts, Mouse from the house until winter and returning him to his meek status. Of course, when winter comes, a reformed Mouse is happy to join Chef Gus.
