Be sure of your child before selecting this as a gift, good value as it is with lots of pictures and impressive oversize format. There are children who demand scarey stories and there are children who would have a full sized attack of night nerves after seeing these pictures and hearing these stories. There are some more ""gentle stories"" included (Thumbelina); there's a fresh sense of selection in the inclusion of a Paul unyan story and David and Goliath; the balance are the old favorite giants and dwarfs. It is the pictures that stress the frightening aspects.
