AROUND THE CORNER

Whenever Jimmy turned a corner, it was only just in time to see the tail of his pet duck disappearing around the next one. Before the duck completes the circle back home, Jimmy is led on a tame duck chase across a busy street, into a zoo, a dump, a farmyard, and so on. The illustrations are full of all varieties of things--especially animals-- and this book is definitely intended for very young children who want to spend a long time on the pictures with minimal textual continuity. The plum-purple, mustard and gray illustrations are detailed in the illustrator's popular style, although in arrangement and imagination they are around the corner from his most outstanding work.
