PROFILE IN GILT

Spinstersleuth, Leuth White, (minus usual aggravating mannerisms) disentangles the murder of a woman holding the key to a young girl's birth. The girl, the local eyebrow raiser in a small Southern college town, is engaged to the son of the respectable college dean. He and his family, interested in breaking the engagement, and potential ""unwed"" mothers of the girl, all suspect. Pleasantly paced and patterned tale with turntable solution.
