A placid, comfy horse and pony story is also the first one Jeanne Mellin has both written and illustrated. A fat little Shetland, Pidgy is owned by a doting Cindy Sawyer, who soon begins to wish she had a real horse. Pidgy is friendly, dear, accommodating, and amenable but more and more Cindy dreams of owning a magnificent hunter or an Arabian- until one day Pidgy disappears. Cindy spends a miserable twenty four hours until Pidgy turns up at last at a neighbor's stables where she has been taken to have a foal. The new baby and the relief are enough to change Cindy's mind- completely.
