BOWLEG BILL

The sales on this will be rather highly specialized -- and just as highly appreciated. Our expert on matters nautical reports as follows:- ""Possibly Paul Bunyan sired Bowleg Bill, in which once the dam must been sister to Popeye the sailor. At all events the author did not waste his time sitting on the bollards of various New England wharves during sessions of the local lions' clubs, for he has created from yarns he heard, a sea-going cowboy whose exploits stand on their own merits. It is only fair to warn you that Bill's adventures verge on the bawdy, but in justification ""The Rape of the 'Faith, Hope and Charity'"" shows a deeply religious side as well. The appendix with keys to the stories and quoted authorities (if and when) is worth reading in itself. Selling hint -- stack Bowleg Bill in a pile with a sign 'For Men Only"". And don't suggest it as a Sunday School prize or vacation reading for your great aunt. If Bligh had had a copy, we might never have had Mutiny on the Bounty.
