LOVE IS NOT WHAT YOU THINK

This is an extremely thoughtful and precious documentary on love by the author of Friendly Persuasion and To See the Dream. The author is especially concerned with the meaning of ""love"" for a woman, as opposed to the more ephemeral and less mature states of ""falling in love"" or ""being in love"" and draws from her rich personal experience as well as a literary experience with philosophers from many ages who have attempted to define the essentially elusive nature of love in a rational manner. With her peculiar style, charm, and insight, Jessamyn West has written a realistic and mature commentary on love that should be appealing and educational to both men and women and will certainly enhance their understanding of the sometimes baffling differences between the emotional needs and satisfactions which love fulfills for each sex.
