THE MOTHER'S DAY SANDWICH

In her first children's book, Wynot sets the standard scenario of kids making a mess of breakfast in bed on a favorite ""holiday""--but she gives it a satisfying denouement when Mama prefers to be the ""cheese"" in a warm hug from her two kids, who she says are the bread in the sandwich. Using colored pencils, Chambliss illustrates the uproar with appropriate good humor. Not exceptional, but useful.
