Tiny things are irresistible to most small children. And Sugarplum was a tiny doll, so tiny that the other dolls that Susie owned were scornful and made her feel unimportant. And Susie was a careless mother so that Sugarplum was repeatedly lost,- dropped out of doors, swept up by the vacuum cleaner, immobilized in a glass of jelly. It is an original and appealing story which four and five year olds will like read aloud, while they follow the pictures by Marvin Bileck -- and first to third graders will enjoy reading to themselves.?
