THE LIFE AND EXPLOITS OF THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL

The author is a descendant of one Sir Percy Blakeney, the Scarlet Pimpernel himself, and he tells with gusto and a certain pride of the exploits of this colorful figure, famed through the novels of Baroness Orczy and, more recently through the film, which follows closely the early adventures. Then comes a period unfamiliar to the present day friends of the Scarlet Pimpernel. Once his task of rescuing emigrÉs was no longer needed, Sir Percy suffered from boredom, so outfitted a vessel and became a pirate, preying on French ships. Entertaining reading.
