THE MAN FROM THE NORLANDS

Half mystery, half adventure, crossing occasional tracks familiar to Buchan fans and reintroducing some Buchan characters from past books. Old days of East Africa figure actively in the working out of the blood pact between dick Hannay, who tells the story, Lombard, one James Smith (who turns out to be the son of old Harald-son) and Sandy Clanroyden. the villains, Troth and Albinus, are blackmailing Harald-son -- his father's mates come to the rescue. Melodrama in the British Isles, with an old time rousing of the native and more or less primitive islanders just in time to achieve a rescue. Personally, I thought it a bit confusing for those not steeped in Buchan; for those who are it is ""good Buchan"".
