This minute spoof deals with the footling experiences of Lady Isabella Thorbush Trilby who comes to Ramona Beach to take residence in the half a house left her by her late husband as British Ambassador. (John Haase wrote The Fun Couple which was converted into a play and since the publishers think of Lady Trilby in terms of Margaret Rutherford, you'll get the picture.) She shares the house with a Venetian balloonist and two brothers, tinkering with elevators; hangs up a sign ""Rooms for Gentlemen: Espionage Done""; intimidates the local Hell's Angels, serves tea to the Ramona chapter of A.G.A.I.N.S.T., and launches her own Mayoralty candidate. Most of the California flora and fauna--Surfers, Topless, and a funeral directors' convention, surface--briefly....If this seems kind of dim-witted, it's an impression one hesitates to contradict.
