Confusion reigns among the forest animals on the day that there is an eclipse of the sun. The day animals are frightened by the darkness, and can't see what they are doing. Meanwhile the night animals have awakened, but are too sleepy to accomplished their work. While the animals are arguing about whether it is really night or day, the sun reappears, and everything settles back down to normal. For those who are curious to know how much of this story is based on fact, we have checked with the Department of Mammalogy at the Museum of Natural History and Were told that little is definitely known about the affects of an eclipse on animal behavior. While some light sensitive nocturnal animals might wake up, many of the ones portrayed in this story would probably be un-affected by the eclipse. The drawings of the animals are, however, quite accurate and attractive as well.
