THE OTHER PASSENGER

Sustained atmosphere, versatile forms and dramatic effects for these stories of the macabre, supernatural and horror which rely on shock and breathless climaxes for their completion. The unexpected is pointed up, the unusual ending is generally a surprise and the whole is an interesting assembly in the chills and fevers school. There's an interesting interpolation of Chopin and George Sand and their life on Majorca, there is a flair for the use of music, there are unhackneyed uses of long respected materials; madness, murders, obsessions, emotional perversions, haunting, and for a taste of the originality you need only sample the first in the volume. For the fanciers.
