UNCLE DAN: The Life Story of Dan Beard

Adequate, I suppose, but very colorless life of the great scout leader. Perhaps a half of the book deals with the events of his life, the balance with his philosophy, with quotations from his own writings and others, with his place in the Boy Scout movement, etc. But somehow there is no fire in the telling of a story that should carry a spirit of adventure, for Dan Beard is a dramatic figure which should lend himself to more dramatic handling.
