A blue print of the socialist method of producing and distributing goods and services as contrasted with the capitalistic method. The emphasis is on the economic aspects, not the social and political. He claims that plenty and security are possible and indicates how and to what extent. He stresses planned production for use not profit, indicates how a planning authority would settle the proportions of consumer's goods and during what period. He shows how it has worked in Russia (but does not show how it has failed to work). He discusses the basic units of or ganization, -government, consumer cooperatives, producer cooperatives, and winds up with a brief survey of the social effects, the abolition of sharp class distinctions, and the incentives to work. A good brief summary of the main economic factors in socialism, presented by an idealist who has a practical viewpoint. A useful primer of socialism.
