This is our choice as between Country Editor and this book, but the other is on the market first, so this may miss the initial impetus. (See page 244.) Then in October Small Town Editor by Victor Holmes, is due. We've not seen galleys on that. The New Milford Gazette supplied the source material, in the years at the turn of the century, years when the editor was the paper, and vice versa. ""Father"" is a lovable gentleman, determined, choleric, kindly, as strongly individualistic as the rights he upheld, and as ""American as apple pie"". This is not only the story of Father, but of the town; local elections, concerts, doings; T.R.'s visit to town; gossip, local crises. There are nice family daguerreotypes in print. Quaint, pleasantly nostalgic, with just the quality one wants in the subject, which the other book lacked.
