It's a comic book sort of story -- the text and illustrations suggest the ""approved, comic book"" type. The story has little point and relies heavily on the visual humor involved in the unlikely event of a musical seal saving the concert of a juvenile orchestra. The vocabulary is a bit above the initial reader stage and the cartoonish illustrations allow this to masquerade as more entertainment than remedial exercise.
