by Judy Van der Veer ‧ RELEASE DATE: Oct. 1, 1940
The author of Brown Hills and River Pasture goes too abstract in this slight story of a girl tuned so closely to nature that she fails in her human contacts. Her setting is the hills of California; her contact with animals is to her more satisfying than the contact of people; she even fails to react normally to a shadowy love for Dirk, who has gone away and does not write. A bit too tenuous for success.
