by Karl A. Menninger ‧ RELEASE DATE: Feb. 24, 1938
Menninger's reputation for handling scientific material for the popular taste is based on his admirable work, The Human Mind. Now comes a new volume which deals with a subject from which people fight shy, -- suicide and all matters pertaining to it. He analyzes it from the angle of its inherent connection with basic failings in human mentality, weaknesses, fears which show themselves in unsuspected forms, neuroticism, hysteria, hypochondria, self-martyrdom, alcoholism, anti-social behaviour, etc. A challenging book for those who have the courage to apply it fairly. Not an easy book to read. Its lay value will not be as wide as one could wish, but through professional channels it should reach the intelligent strata of those who need it.
