This excellent little book by the well known author of Gesammelte Augsatze zur Kirchen-geschichte is the first of his work to be translated into English. It is a splendid introduction to his work for students who because of the language barrier have not had the privilege and advantage of his scholarship. While this book on the distinctive elements of Christianity is small it contains much essential truth and an exceptionally fine section of notes.
