GREAT ADVICE FROM LILA FENWICK

The heroine of The Great Ideas of Lila Fenwick is back, and she's a wonderful kid to know. Suddenly the urge is upon her and her friends to find out about boys. Lila seems to have an advantage, because her doctor dad is taking the family to spend two weeks at a Boy Scout camp--his idea of a vacation. Rita, the sexiest 12-year-old in the class, worms an invitation, and off they go for some zesty adventures, a lot of reciprocal learning, and some boy-watching as well as bird-watching. Lila finds she can rise to a real emergency as she administers first aid in a critical climax, and there's a wonderfully nostalgic songs-around-the-campfire-last-night-of-camp scene. Lila and her friends are fun and funny, and their dialogue is a delight. Here's hoping they'll be back soon again.
