by Kate Seredy ‧ RELEASE DATE: Nov. 12, 1943
Kate Seredy knows the section of New York State where her story is laid; she knows something of the weal and woe of amateurs turned farmers, but she has not been able to resist making a way of life she loves herself sound almost too easy for the city-minded family, bound for a modern camp, sidetracked to a farm by a country-minded grandmother. Aside from this criticism, the book reads easily and delightfully, boys and girls and the grown-ups are real people, and the American ideals are not too instilled. Kate Seredy's own pictures will be as charming as ever, one can be sure.
