WITNESS OF THE LIGHT

A popular biography of Pope Pius XII, emphasizing his role as the ""pope of peace"" in a very positive sense. This book traces the life of the present pontiff from his birth to the present, recounting in an interesting and dramatic way the anecdotes, conversations and events of his life that many are by now very familiar with, against the background of the earth- shaking events of world history that have occurred during the past half-century or so and have involved the papacy very profoundly. It is as good and interesting a book as any dealing with the life of Pope Pius XII with which to become acquainted with the man and his work, but it would be superfluous for one who knows the essential details of the Pope's biography to read this volume.
