Only gardeners will understand the serious savagery of the cult described in this humorous caricature and apologia for the mania; that is, if gardeners can leave the mulch, rose and hotbed crises for the nonce to laugh at their own flora and foibles. The problems of home gardening are examined in excruciating detail-- costume, competition, market value, gadgets, flower vs. vegetable, organic vs. chemical, and any number of other earthy antipathies have a pseudo-Benchley twist. If ""happiness is a arm compost"" and ""mulch ado"" seems to be about something, then you're a gardener and ould enjoy this book. For the non-gardening world, a rose is a rose is a rose perhaps, but a rosarian is not always what he claims to be and most often is an irretrievable ?ore. Corollary: Hunters and fishers of the world, unite! Let gardeners go home--with this light spoof in the pockets of their baggy tweeds.
