by Ken Sobol ‧ RELEASE DATE: Oct. 1, 1967
Shaped like a picture book, colored in the eye-shattering burnt orange and shocking pink of a mad display designer, titled like a fantasy--what is it? a history of clocks through the ages. The text is a literal tour through a putative clock museum; there's a room (chapter) for ancient clocks, oriental clocks, American clocks, etc. In each room, several are described but not all are illustrated, and the illustrations are not sufficiently detailed and precise--some should be diagrammatic--to clarify the mechanical operation. Mr. Sobol has assembled some interesting information, especially about the look, the lore and the social role of clocks, but the format is wildly unsuitable.
