It is based on extensive reports by social scientists, and records the child's awareness of skin color; the transmission of community pressures; the effects on the Negro child where the high cost of racial frustration is often aggression; the effects on the white child in unconscious reactions of guilt and anxiety. What the schools can do, the social agencies, the churches, and the parent outline a constructive course of procedure and progress.... The recent Supreme Court decision, declaring segregation in public education unconstitutional, will help perhaps to bring this to a non-professional audience; but it is essentially a study for other social scientists, psychologists, teachers, etc.
