THE CROZART STORY

A comparison can be made with The Generous Heart (Harcourt, Brace-1954) as this moves on from organized panhandling, the earlier book, to promotional or ""pubrel"" procedures here, and again combines some rather modified suspense with a more extensive view of the dynamics of the men who make the news and stir opinion. Steve Crozart, head of a talent agency, and once involved in a notorious trial, dies in an airplane crash and his death leads to some latterday revelations that he was on a last ""mission"" -- to expose a crime cartel in drugs and vice. A few (his partner, his wife, etc.) of his friends and/or enemies take turns here in telling the story of the weeks to follow, of Crozart's ""death masquerade"" and its unexpected ricochet.... A tricky narrative, and the patter is advanced Madison Avenue.
