by Kenneth G. Crawford ‧ RELEASE DATE: N/A
The inside story of the lobbyists, hirelings of private property interests -- or political parties -- out to make Congressmen fall into line -- the ""phantom fourth branch of government."" A book by a Washington correspondent, leftish in slant, and pulling no punches. Most of the material deals with dirty dealings of the last five years, and with the failure of the Black investigation into lobbying:- the Food and Drug Act and the part Musica played in it; Will Hays and his movie magnate team; various business lobbies, -- sugar, rubber, railroads, utilities, drugs. Then the propaganda lobbyists, pro and anti labor, fascism, war, Roosevelt and the New Deal. Crawford gives the New Deal a square deal, and they come off pretty well. A book in the America's Sixty Families category.
