by Kenneth Roberts ‧ RELEASE DATE: N/A
In this brief account of a revolutionary battle important in its effect on waning American morale Kenneth Roberts amply displays all the narrative gifts that made him a master of historical writing. The battle in the Carolinas between Morgan and the colorful English rake Banastre Tarleton was marked by mistakes on both sides, but its ultimate importance was in dashing the chances of England to separate the North from the South and it is to make this point that Roberts wrote this alim book which reads like research for a longer and more ambitious effort. Although this 106 page book illustrated with maps and portraits is excellent of its kind, it seems overpriced for any but the most ardent Roberts fans.
