MUSICAL CHAIRS

Thirteen years after the Texas Jewboys, Kinky Friedman's country-western band, played its last set, somebody is killing them off--from Tequila, who crashes at the Kinkster's N.Y.C. pad a lot harder than he expected, to Wichita and Ray Boatright, victims of ""accidents"" far from the city. Is the killer Travis Parnell, jealous ex-husband of Kelli Tuck, now carrying on with Kinky's neighbor Winnie (and if so, what's the connection)? Or is it one of the Jewboys themselves, waiting to pick them off during the reunion tour Kinky organizes (and if so, why the long wait)? Don't get too concerned--you'll forget the mystery every time Kinky sounds off (several times a page) about lesbians, bumper stickers, cats as roommates, and ""deja Jew."" If Greenwich Killing Time and Frequent Flier didn't make a fan of you, this one won't either. But true-blue fans will recognize it as a star turn, with just enough plot to give shaggy, offensive Kinky a bass for his riffs.
