OTTIE AND THE STAR

Ottie, (only) the jacket will tell you, is a little otter--and his whole quest for a star like those he sees in the sky is on the same level of cutesy inconsequentiality. Seeing some stars reflected in the water, Ottie plunges down, escapes from a predatory shark (he mistook its forked tail for you-know-what), enjoys a ride on a friendly dolphin, and returns home clutching a woebegone starfish--which his mother tells him to release. Ottie and Starfish part fondly, and Ottie plans a return visit to Starfish (having apparently relinquished his wish for those other, unattainable stars). One of those agglomerations of stock elements that adds up to absolutely nothing.
