by Lawrence E. Watkin ‧ RELEASE DATE: July 15, 1940
Regretfully, we acknowledge that this is not another On Borrowed Time. It's altogether pleasant, light as air, but lacking in the originality and the rare quality of the first. There are some nice people, there are touches of whimsy and humor (the latter occasionally overstrained), but on the whole it seems good only for a casual hour. Watkin centers on home grounds --a small southern college, with a young liberal on the teaching staff as central character. A tenuous plot built around his marriage to a wealthy New Yorker when the home-town girl jilted him. There's a ""change partners"" game; there's campus politics; there are nice characters throughout, good even if inconsequential companions.
