Good ammunition for anti-isolationist, anti-appeasement groups, readable, uninvolved though acknowledgedly personal and emotional. A ""man in the street"" wrote a letter is the N. Y. Times in January 1940. In the time that has elapsed, that letter has been widely reprinted, and the author, a N.Y. Lawyer, has been on the air and the lecture and forum platform. His was a challenge to America on its responsibilities. This book is an expansion of his position then, a contention that we are inclined to lazy thinking, an uncompromising all out undertaking of responsibilities, without and within. He points the fallacies, studies the propaganda machine, criticizes wasted opportunity, blasis the isolationists. Fighting words these.
