THE JOHNNY UNITAS STORY

Report repeated from January 1st Bulletin p. 16 (J- 16) when scheduled for earlier publication reads as follows: ""The Johnny Unitas Story is not the usual success story. It does not tell of a talented player whose main goal is recognition. Rather it describes the development of a talent which began as a lukewarm possibility that yielded only partial success. As a kid growing up in Pittsburgh, Johnny did not display the amazing power of his throwing arm as halfback and later as end position on his high school team. Once given a chance to play quarterback, Johnny finds his niche but even then does not prove an outstanding college athlete. As a professional, Johnny's career continued to be unexceptional until that famous November day when he finally displayed the timing and precision that was to mean victory for the Baltimore Colts over the Los Angeles Rams, 56-21. Football fans will respond avidly to an action-filled story of a real athletic hero.
