The best book she has written -- and with as good a chance for popular success as her first book, Dusty Answer, although its road to success is a different one, based on a sound and general human appeal in the story itself, rather than a somewhat morbid curiosity which stimulated sales of Dusty Answer. There is no theme of perversion -- though the assumption that extra-marital relationships are to be expected may make the book distasteful to your conservatives. This is an essentially honest book, the story of a love that came to quick consummation between a girl separated from a husband she did not love, and a man, bound by convention and loyalty, to an invalid wife. The theme is somewhat that of Ramona Herdman's A Time for Love -- but it is a much more powerful and a better balanced book. Again a case where the fact that the book is the author's first under a new imprint will secure a strong backing from the publishers.
