Picture book format with lovely soft flat color full page pictures, with characteristic Mexican flavor. Olvera Street, in old Los Angeles is the setting for a tender little Easter story of Mexican children. A birthday party and the pre-Easter blessing of the animals by the Padre of the Mission church are delightfully described with enough of incident to appeal to small listeners. The animals and children parade and there is music with words in Spanish which more or less limit this to the read-aloud classification.
