THE THREATENING FOG

Yet another tale of a young man removed to a new environment for a summer of agonizing self appraisal and salutary nudges to the grown-ups. Forced to leave his Texas home because of his father's accident in Germany, young Eben Tyrell Hall is sent to live with Uncle Silas, glum and solitary product (as is Eben) of a line of sea captains. In spite of his nautical lineage, Eben is afflicted with acute, chronic and so his services to his uncle consist of helping to keep house, to farm and finally to clear up the mystery of Silas' cut lobster traps. Eben also some family history, alleviates some of Uncle's wellschmerz, and soon finds himself a summer job and is at last ""at home"" in Rockhaven. Although one must travel a weary mile these days to find an Eben and Silas without a TV antenna on the Old Homestead, the background, although an anachronism, is lovingly presented, and there is enough mystery to hold interest.
