by Leonard Koppett ‧ RELEASE DATE: Aug. 1, 1967
'Tis the season. Pitchers are pitchin', hitters are hittin' and fans should be thinking. Mr. Koppett offers a lot to think about in this mountain of miscellany; everything from the mechanics of hitting, a ""trained reflex"" or as Yogi Berra so succinctly puts it ""'Aargh...how kin ya t'nk & hit atta same time?,"" to ""home run greed"" to the physics behind curves, conditions of the ball park, psychology behind beanballs, faus, salaries, broadcasters, to how to keep a scoreboard. There are also anecdotes and studies of the style of the major personalities. As neatly organized as a diamond and written in quite presentable prose. Grandstand secondguessers take note!
