YOU LOOK RIDICULOUS"": Said the Rhinoceros to the Hippopotamus

The lion, the leopard, the elephant, the monkey, the giraffe, the tortoise, and the nightingale all confirmed that opinion. Then the hippopotamus had a vision of herself with all the plumage the others had recommended to her--a rhinoceros horn, a mane, a spotted coat, etc. and decided that was ridiculous. Very young children will think so too, and that picture of the composite hippo will draw plenty of laughs from them. The moral is easy to share--that it's best to be yourself even if you are ""a big, fat, wonderful hippopotamus."" The pictures, done in an interesting technique with inks and stamps in dulled gray, green, and orange, show a happy, lumpy view of the jungle beasts.
