Lawyer Jesse Falkenstein this time--one of the nicer characters in this multiple author's multiple crime cases. And while there's the usual ambulatory traffic in felonies, the story centers around Josie, a child left with a baby-sitting couple for a night that extends to six years. Suddenly her vagrant mother wants her back, but why? Falkenstein, remembering the words of a psychic about the ""short-sightedness"" of most people, is given a little extra clairvoyance that helps him find Josie and solve the case. Acceptable plus.
