A criminal abortion case in which two are casualties brings in a death sentence against Nell Varney based on some rambling deathbed implications, sketchy identifications and after the fact evidence. Jesse Falkenstein, her lawyer, and an independent police officer, Varallo, prosecute the case further, and a few disjointed phrases lead to a firm case for appeal and the real ""Mrs. Dr."". Soundly reasoned and realistic.
