The widely known former minister of The City Temple in London addresses this book to those present day men and women, particularly of the younger generation, who find much of traditional religion either unacceptable or boring, but who nevertheless insist that they are religiously deeply concerned. The title, The Christian Agnostic, attempts to summarize this frame of belief and disbelief, and the chapters of the book take up various aspects of traditional belief--God, Christ The Holy Spirit, The Church, The Bible, Evil and Sin, and others, and the author reconsiders the basic positions embodied in these concepts, in terms relevant to the outlook and experience of contemporary, thoughtful persons. The general approach is that combination of reliance on scientific understanding, ready accept of what has been called a ""liberal"" theological position and a warm, personal affirmation of belief in the central realities hidden or made obscure under tradition theological statement. Readers of Dr. Weatherhead's other books will find this approach familiar.
