The arrival of Morgan Lamb splinters a love/hate triangle that had existed for 18 years between the ""Giant""""--Cliff Morgan, range lord (Morgan's father), Mary Lamb (his mother), and Kehoe Lamb, ranch foreman and betrayed husband. The confrontation with the bastard son breaks the masochistic thread of penance and revenge that had welded these three together as Kehoe is goaded into seeking final vengeance. He involves Clint and Morgan in a triple murder which touches off a range war and joins the attempts to kill them. Quite a bit of melodramatic introspection precludes the final battle but the characters are good, if not novel, and the action is fast-fisted.
