SNAKE IN, SNAKE OUT

The story in pictures shows an old woman receiving a delivery of a parrot, a large snake emerging from the package, and the snake's travels about the house--undetected at first, then pursued by the woman with a broom in her hand. In the end, snake, bird, and human are seen settled down together, at peace. But it's not just a story in pictures, for each frame is accompanied by a ""concept word"" denoting relationship: in one, the bird flies OUT of the cage as the snake comes out of the box; in another, the snake lies curled up UNDER the old woman's bed, she sleeps under her covers, and the bird peeks from under his night hood; elsewhere the woman chases the snake DOWN the stairs, and so on. Each of the words--up, down, in, out, over, under, on, and off--is repeated in a later frame for reinforcement, and the pictures have more style and humor than most such pedagogical projects.
