For a very close likeness to this see Jerrold Beim's Flood Waters (reported on p. J-180 of the August 1st Bulletin). This to is about the Connecticut floods of last year, and in the same manner as the Beim, does little more than recount the emergencies and near miseries brought on by the flood. Perhaps there is some real value in this. It is told well. Through the things children think of and talk about at such times- the lost pets, the quarrels, the worries about where to sleep- we are given a sincere picture of human reactions to a flood and an indication of the bravery and goodness it brings out in people. But we are also left with the small thought that it may take an act of God to do it.
