Based on fact, this story of the child who was born in a storm at sea, over two hundred years ago, who was christened by a pirate and saved to go with her parents to New Hampshire, where she was known as Ocean-Born Mary. Of her longing for the sea, and the adventures that befell her when she went to an aunt in Portsmouth for a year. Good picture life in those days, of the perils of the sea. But I don't think the story has quite the sureness of last year's Bound Girl of Cobble Hill.
